Fighting Diabetes
Known as “the club that fights diabetes”, Cosmopolitan focuses of preventing and curing diabetes, which touches the lives of thousands of people, perhaps even someone you know. Today, nearly 24 million children and adults in the United States have diabetes and almost six million of them don’t even know they have it. Diabetes can cause heart disease, blindness, kidney failure and even death.
As a not-for-profit service organization we have joined “the fight against diabetes” and are involved in several fund raising events throughout the year. Each February our club co-sponsors the Black Hills Sports Show and Sale which is held at the Rushmore Civic Center. This is a very popular event and helps us finance our efforts. In addition, Cosmos “in yellow jackets” or black and white apparel usher and take tickets at the Civic Center arena, ice rink, and theater. We raise funds while at the same time, enjoying the events.
The Rapid City Cosmopolitan Club supports Cosmopolitan International’s Service Projects to find a cure for diabetes by contributing to the Cosmopolitan Diabetes Foundation and the Children’s Care Fund. Cosmos also donate funds to a variety of nonprofit organizations in the Rapid City area that are involved in diabetes education such as RC Regional Endocrinology Clinic and Diabetes Inc., as well as to various organizations whose focus is youth development,
